About Us and Your Background Investigation

Your background investigation will be conducted by ProFirst Training and Consulting, LLC.  Firestone Police Department has partnered with ProFirst to conduct POST-compliant background investigations as part of the applicant recruitment process. All of our personnel have over two decades of law enforcement experience and are POST-certified background investigators, as well as subject matter experts in public safety backgrounds, FCRA, ADA and Title VII.

A pre-employment background investigation is not intended to be an intimidating experience or an unwarranted invasion into your privacy. Your background investigator will contact persons who know you, including present and/or former employers, and will examine official documents and records concerning you to assure that you have been honest in your application and to fulfill the legal mandates imposed by the courts and legislature. The more forthright you have been, the greater the likelihood that your background can be completed in a timely and successful manner.

We also look into each applicant's dimensions, commonly referred to as character traits. These dimensions include:

Most background investigations will take about three weeks to complete. You will be notified by the Firestone Police Department when the background investigation is completed.

Meet Your Lead Background Investigator

John Pallas

John Pallas is a 29-year law enforcement veteran who served as Deputy Chief of Police for the law enforcement division of the State of Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission. In that role, John supervised command staff, oversaw the professional standards unit and served as the public information officer and director of training.


He also has more than two decades of service in California in various capacities, including Vice Detective, Narcotics Task Force Investigator, F.T.O. and Reserve Program Coordinator.

John managed a high-profile task force team of investigators comprised of FBI, DEA, IRS agents, as well as state and city law enforcement officers and managed a wire and email intercept room.  The task force, which focused on international narcotics trafficking, seized over 6 tons of narcotics and $2 million in cash during his tenure.

 

John has over 10,000 hours of training experience and is a certified training instructor through POST in California and the Los Angeles County Office of Education.

John is a subject matter expert in the area of public safety pre-employment background investigations. He conducts POST-certified training on the subject and consults with agencies and human resources departments nationwide.
